Al-Quran Menjawab Hati Yang Bersedih

Manusia Bertanya : Kenapa aku diuji?

(Lihat QS.Al-Baqarah : 216)

Manusia Bertanya : Kenapa aku diberi ujian seberat ini?
Qur’an Menjawab : “Allah tidak membebani seseorang melainkan sesuai dengan kesanggupannya……….” (Lihat QS.Al-Baqarah : 286)

Manusia Bertanya : Bolehkah aku kecewa ?
Qur’an Menjawab : “Janganlah kamu bersikap lemah, dan janganlah (pula) kamu bersedih hati, padahal kamulah orang-orang yang paling tinggi (darjatnya), jika kamu orang-orang yang beriman”. (Lihat QS.Ali Imraan : 139)

Manusia Bertanya : Bolehkah aku berputus asa ?

(Lihat QS.Al-Baqarah : 45)

Manusia Bertanya : Bagaimana menguatkan hatiku?
Qur’an Menjawab : “….Cukuplah Allah bagiku; tidak ada Ilah selain Dia. Hanya kepada-Nya aku bertawakal…….” (Lihat QS.At-Taubah : 129)

Manusia Bertanya : Apa yang aku dapat dari semua ujian ini?
Qur’an Menjawab : “Sesungguhnya Allah telah membeli dari orang-orang mu’min, diri dan harta mereka dengan surga – Nya……….” (Lihat QS.At-Taubah : 111)

Gustav Klimt vs Loos

Gustav Klimt and Loos...
Gustav Klimt
In 1897 a group of Artists, such as Otto Wagner and his gifted students, Josef Hoffman and Josef Olbrich with Gustav Klimt, Koloman Moser and others aspired to the renaissance of the arts and crafts and to bring more abstract and purer forms to the designs of buildings and furniture, glass and metalwork, following the concept of total work of art and to do so they tried to bring together Symbolists, Naturalists, Modernists, and Stylists.

They gave birth to another form of modernism in the visual arts and they named their own new movement: Secession (Wiener Secession). As the name indicates, this movement represented a protest, of the younger generation against the traditional art of their forebears, a "separation" from the past towards the future. The first chairman was Gustav Klimt.

Gustav Klimt
Garden with Sunflowers
This paintings about the garden in sunflowers..this is related with mine field which is batik design. Batik design nowadays more to contemporary like. Before this, batik design was like this with crowded design look like. Besides, its colored by layer.

This painting is about a young woman named Frederike Beer-Monti rang on Klimt's doorbell in 1915, hoping he would paint her portrait (she had already posed for his younger rival, Schiele). She found him both taciturn and formidable. Klimt took her hand, looked at it, turned it over and for a long time,  but said not a single word. Beer-Monti was finally allowed to enter. But, "it took a lot of talking to make him a little friendlier." Klimt eventually agreed to paint her. Though the result was a magnificent picture, Beer-Monti was ambivalent about the artist. "Klimt was exceptionally animal-like. His body exuded a peculiar odor. As a woman, one was really afraid of him."

I have the gift of neither the spoken nor the written word, especially if I have to say something about myself or my work. Whoever wants to know something about me -as an artist, the only notable thing- ought to look carefully at my pictures and try and see in them what I am and what I want to do

Adolf Loos

Adolf Loos (1870-1933) ranks as one of the most important pioneers of the modern movement in architecture. Ironically, his influence was based largely on a few interior designs and a body of controversial essays. Adolf Loos 's buildings were rigorous examples of austere beauty, ranging from conventional country cottages to planar compositions for storefronts and residences. His built compositions were little known outside his native Austria during his early years of practice.
Adolf Loos

What I want is for people in my rooms to feel the material around them, I want it to have its effect on them, I want them to be aware of the enclosing room, to feel the material, the wood, to see it, touch it, to perceive it sensually, to sit comfortably and feel the contact between the chair and a large area of their peripheral sense of touch, and say: this is sitting as it should be.

For Adolf Loos, too much decoration is a waste of craftsman's energy and time for the trend will soon be replace by another. But if function and simplicity is the main focus then the object will be more advance and up to date while Gustav uses symbol and design into his painting. Most of his subject matter is female's body.
See Gustav Klimt artwork:

As a designer majoring in batik design, im choosing Gustav which is related with my field...Nowadays, designers seems in Art Nouveau movement which is more modern and stylish. Before this, in batik design..they should be in layered and lots of color and design. But now, batik design more simplify and modern

Mila is wearing contemporary batik design which is have been simplify more to geometrical design with color earthy and nice color palette.

This batik design show layering colors and design seems like Gustav artwork. This show lots of detailing have been done in colors and design.Too much embellishments show how high is the price of the artwork.Batik art is unquestionably known by its final result of colors which is vibrant and minute work, this all effort make batik work alive or at least it seems like that with all vibrant colors. But Loos idea is too much embellishments is wasting time and energy. For me, the more details it is, the more valuable the artwork is.

Art is not only about the final outcome but what artist is giving to create such artwork, it require lots of patience and creative mind to create something so beautiful and pure.
Sample of batik stamp, which shows lots of embellishment, lots of detailing which show the 'ketekunan' of the craftsman in doing it.

Loos said that an object should be created to be up to date and lasting.I agree about that, but batik design should be created up to date so that it will have new breath..!
Why batik design before this have been used back and re-design it with new feel? Such as Indonesian 'Cirebon Mega Mendung'
Cirebon mega mendung batik
This is about the historical motif, so they have re-design it to be used in this new era....such as this one
for our time being used....it has been simplify and used for daily uses. So both Gustav and Loos ideology seems can be used as long as we as the designer knows what we design and how it is, besides work with passionate and full of soul.....tQ..

::Joy OF work::

Art nouveau..mean modern art...my lecturer said that the perjalanan of art look like loving couple bercinta ..Classic VS Modern...

John Ruskin
Born in London, John Ruskin is mainly known for his magnificent work in the field of art, literature and architecture. A fervent art critic, Ruskin is also remembered for his ideas of socialism and immense contribution towards promoting Gothic architecture. He gained popularity as a social critic and a poet in the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

William Morris was an English architect, furniture and textile designer, artist, writer, socialist and Marxist associated with Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and the English Arts and Craft Movement. Morris wrote and published poetry, fiction, and translations of ancient and medieval texts throughout his life. His best-known works include The Defence of Geunevere and Other Poems (1958 ), The Earthly Paradise ( 1868-1870 ), A Dream of John Ball and utopian news from the Socialist League in 1984, but breaking with the movement over goals and methods by the end of the decade.

The design based on flora and fauna...which is look like mirror ornament. The Indian textile also push on folra and fauna and reflection style.I love the beautiful nature inspired wallpaper designs by William Morris.  William Morris which is associated with the Arts and Crafts Movement.  The Arts and Crafts Movement was a British, Canadian, and American aesthetic movement of the 19th and early 20th centuries that influenced arts, crafts and architecture. The Arts and Crafts Movement was inspired by the writings of John Ruskin and a romantic idealization of a craftsperson taking pride in their personal handiwork. The movement was a reaction to the eclectic revival of historic styles of the Victorian era and to “soulless” machine-made production aided by the Industrial Revolution.

There is hope in honest error none in the icy perfections of the mere stylist

What i understand from art & nouveau  is....it was an artistic creation, which is combining the thinking and craft. They talk about process but not on the product and also the movement. The joy of work will u feel it when u adore it.It so cool if today we gather with the designers to talk about the movement, the art and more rather than talk about artis( uppsss..i did it..~! )But, working environment today i think there is lack of joy of work....work have been done based on requirement...but no u are enjoying to do that. When u're not fell the design movement( cmne nk ckp..kalau kita tak dibenarkan utk melontarkan idea2 kita--hehehee..in Malay lak ) we will not fell the ENJOYMENT.

Descartes was born in La Haye en Touraine ( now Descartes ), Indre-et-Loire, France. After graduation, he studied at the University of Poitiers, earning a Baccalaureat and Licence in Law in 1616,in accordance with his father's wishes that he should become a lawyer.
Descartes is often regarded as the first thinker to provide a philosophical frame work for the natural science as these began to develop. he attempts to arrive at a fundamental set of principles that one can know as true without any doubt. Initailly, Descartes arrives at only a single principle :thought exist. Thought cannot be separated from me, therefore, i exist. Most famously, this is known as cogito ergo sum ( I think therefore i am ). Therefore, Descartes concluded, if he doubted, then something or someone must be doing the doubting, therefore the fact that he doubted proved his existence."the simple meaning of the phrases is that if one is skeptical of existence, that is in and of itself proof that he does exist"

Rene Descartes

Cogito ergo sum, Je pense donc je suis, i think therefore i am by Rene Descartes, is the simple phrase with lots of meaning by other people… Some think that I think therefore I am as wondering someone exist or not according to ‘I’. This “argument” has been used widely by philosopher which is the Cogito is referring to the principle virtually everywhere else and something to be doubt. To argue that the cogito is not a syllogism, one may call it self-evident that "Whatever has the property of thinking, exists". In plain English, it seems incoherent to actually doubt that one exists and is doubting.

I think therefore I am, I remember this statement being one of lectures topic by Madam Suzy design history class. It was the existential “which came first” story…something like, if I think I am hungry, I’ll eat, I think if im young, therefore im young forever :P Some jokes phrase come out from my mind. For me, in the philosophy term it is about  if there is nobody in this world, nothing exist on this word…do we exist??  Thinking there is doubt, feel like we are far away from God. If ‘I’ think that I exist therefore I am here as the real self, as the self that is constituted by the act of thinking, and as the first person perspective.

as for me, its not only the mater 'which first egg or chicken' but what is important are the fact, the fact that we all can agree with. Egg or chicken? whats important are the creator of both masterpiece. We need to learn from Allah creation, what is Allah try to told us, and what are our part in this world.
